As the Vice President of Land at EAG, Scott leads a team of 35+ Land professionals in providing oil and gas back-office outsourcing of land services including land, lease records, division orders, and owner relations. His team transforms the way land departments run their daily operations by merging experienced resources, updated technology, and efficient processes that unlock greater value and enable their organizations to scale effectively.
Scott Hakel has 22+ years of land experience in the oil and gas industry. He has held in-house land and accounting roles with Sheridan Production Company, EXCO Resources, LLC, Questar Exploration and Production Company, Frontier Land, Newfield Mid-Continent, and Lariat Petroleum.
Scott holds a Master of Jurisprudence in Energy Law from the University of Tulsa College of Law, a Bachelor of Business Administration, Pre-Law from Oklahoma State University and Associates of Accounting from Tulsa Community College. He is an active member of the American Association of Professional Landman (AAPL) and is a Certified Professional Landman.
Prior to EAG, Scott held leadership positions with upstream exploration and production companies as the Vice President of Land at Corterra Energy, LLC, the Director of Land at ETX Energy, LLC, and as a Land Team Lead at WPX Energy. Scott led his teams to develop oil and gas assets through the strategic acquisition and divestment transactions, joint venture negotiations, land asset maintenance, and routine Landman activities requiring cross-functional coordination to manage and execute drilling schedules.
He was responsible for the exploration and production of assets in the Eagle Ford Shale, Austin Chalk, Marcellus Shale, Arkoma Basin, Haynesville Shale, Mississippi Lime, and Permian Basin.
